Architectural Designer / Project Coordinator Part-Time to Full-Time |

California, Sacramento, 94203 Sacramento USA
Apply Now

I am the owner of a small, residential-focused architectural design firm seeking a reliable, detail-oriented professional to support and eventually manage day-to-day operations. This is a fast-paced role designed to be engaging and rewarding, but it also requires professionalism, sincerity, and respect for clients. For our customers, designing and building a home is one of the largest financial investments they will ever make, and the construction process is complex and requires careful coordination and clear communication.

This role also offers a unique opportunity to learn how to design thoughtful, well-crafted residential architecture—structures that function as lasting works of art and stand the test of time—while being compensated as you learn and grow within the profession.

Position Overview

You will support and ultimately manage daily workflows within the firm. Responsibilities include responding to client inquiries, coordinating with engineers, managing leads from various marketing channels, assisting with CAD drafting tasks, and applying for building permits across multiple cities and counties. Project work includes custom homes, home additions, ADUs, decks, kitchens, bathrooms, and other residential design scopes.

Key Responsibilities

Respond to emails, client questions, and new project inquiries in a professional, sincere, and polite manner

Support CAD drafting and residential design tasks (training provided)

Submit building permit applications to cities and counties and coordinate with permitting staff

Coordinate with structural engineers, consultants, and building departments

Manage inbound leads from marketing platforms and schedule consultations

Assist with preliminary design, code research, and permit documentation

Maintain organized project files, schedules, and task lists

Provide clear, respectful, and consistent communication with clients throughout each project lifecycle

Qualifications

No prior experience required; a strong interest in the architectural design field is preferred

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Comfortable speaking with clients, vendors, and engineers

Highly organized, dependable, and willing to learn new systems and processes

Work Schedule

Hours are negotiable, but all work must be performed between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM

Compensation & Growth Path

Starting rate: $20/hour for the first three months

Quarterly raises: Increases every three months based on performance and expanding responsibilities

Advanced earning potential: As you progress into managing your own team in multiple regions across California, compensation can increase significantly. Based on sales performance and the number of completed, city- or county-approved plan sets, earning potential can reach $100–$200 per hour.

Long-term opportunity for leadership, autonomy, and performance-based compensation
